Action Needed This Week - Constitutional Tender Act

Dear Friends of Constitutional Tender,

HB 430, the "Constitutional Tender Act," was brought up this week in the State House Banks and Banking Committee, and assigned to TWO subcommittees: Financial Institutions & Services, and Regulations & Oversight. This means we are making GREAT progress here in Georgia in advancing this bill!

There are a number of Members of these subcommittees who have a good idea of what this bill is attempting to do, including a few co-sponsors. But in order for the bill to continue to move forward, we need for the next important step to take place:

The members of these subcommittees MUST hear from the people about how IMPORTANT this bill is, and WHY it needs to be voted favorably back up to the Committee!

Both of these subcommittees are going to be holding hearings on HB 430 very soon, and we're going to be bringing in as many of our experts as we can to testify and explain the need and the necessity of passing this bill. We'll be letting you know when those meetings are.

So, fellow Constitutionalists, we need to TAKE ACTION AGAIN! Here's how:

  • Explain to each Member why this bill is so important: because Georgia, like every other state, is in violation of the U.S. Constitution without such a bill (because the State is making some other "Thing" a Tender in Payment of Debts, both to and by the State). Remind each one that State legislators are all required to swear an oath to uphold that Constitution, so ethically and morally they need to do whatever the Constitution requires.
  • Inform each Member that this type of bill is also needed because, due to the ever-widening circle of economic disaster that is affecting the citizens of every State, we MUST do something to at least begin the process of restoring sound money and a sound economy, whether or not the Federal government or any other State government does so. This would immediately begin the flow of real wealth toward the state's treasury. This would stabilize the state's economy, protect the pensions of state employees, etc. -- and offer many other immediately recognizable benefits.
  • Ask each Member to listen with open minds to the testimony from experts on what exactly it would mean to carry out this bill.
  • You can also contact Chairman Mills (james.mills@house.ga.gov - 404-656-5099), and thank him for bringing up HB 430 and assigning it to subcommittees -- and remind him again why it's important to pass this bill.

THANK YOU SO MUCH -- it's because of people like YOU, who are willing to take a few minutes of your valuable time to do something like this, that we have a GOOD SHOT at getting this bill moved through the General Assembly this year -- and even introduced in other states!

LET'S ROLL!

WOW, Things Are Moving Quickly!

Dear Friends of Constitutional Tender,

THINGS ARE MOVING VERY QUICKLY! We need YOU to help us keep HB 430, the Constitutional Tender Act, moving forward!

When I say "quickly," I mean this: the bill is on the agenda for discussion TOMORROW MORNING, 2/26, at 8:00 A.M.!

We need YOUR help right away! Can you join us at 8:00 a.m., in Room 406 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building, which is right across the street from the Gold Dome (Capitol building)? The address is 8 Capitol Square SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.

Directions: http://tinyurl.com/d7wlg3

Calendar: http://tinyurl.com/b93ung

To recap:
  • The bill was introduced on 2/17.
  • On 2/18, we held the first "Constitutional Tender Day" at the State Capitol.
  • The bill was assigned to the House Banks and Banking Committee.
  • NOW, it's on the agenda for TOMORROW, 2/26!
What we need now is for the bill to either be approved as is (that usually doesn't happen), or assign it to a relevant Subcommittee -- hopefully, a special investigatory committee to take testimony from lots of OUR experts on what exactly it would mean to carry out this bill. This would not only garner a LOT of publicity -- especially if we get some big names to come testify, including perhaps Dr. Paul himself -- but it really WOULD educate these legislators on exactly WHY we need to pass this bill.

So, fellow Constitutionalists, we need to TAKE ACTION AGAIN! Here's how:
  • Come to Atlanta TOMORROW, Feb. 26th, for the Banks and Banking Committee meeting -- be seated in Room 406 of CLOB by 7:45 a.m.;
  • If you get a chance to chat with Rep. James Mills, the Chair of the Committee, before the meeting begins, mention that you're there in support of the Constitutional Tender Act;
  • If attendees are given the opportunity to speak, please do so, with short pithy comments asking for a special investigatory committee to assign HB 430 to, discussing how Georgia is in violation of the U.S. Constitution without such a bill, and that we MUST do something to at least begin the process of restoring sound money and a sound economy.
THANK YOU SO MUCH -- it's because of people like YOU, who are willing to take a short morning out of your valuable time to do something like this, that we have a GOOD SHOT at getting this bill moved through the General Assembly this year -- and even introduced in other states!

Please Take Action TODAY!

Dear Friends of Constitutional Tender,

We are making GREAT progress here in Georgia in advancing HB 430, the Constitutional Tender Act!

The bill was introduced last Tuesday, 2/17. On Wednesday, 2/18, we held the first "Constitutional Tender Day" at the State Capitol, and it was a rousing success. The author of the legislation, Rep. Bobby Franklin, had a great number of other state legislators come up to him all day long, asking him what this bill was about -- so apparently, they WERE getting calls, letters, faxes, and emails!

Now, the bill has been assigned to the House Banks and Banking Committee, which is exactly where we prayed it would go. There are a number of Members of that committee who have a good idea of what this bill is attempting to do. But in order for the bill to continue to move forward, we need for the next important step to take place:

The Chairman of the Committee MUST bring the bill up in Committee, and assign it to a relevant Subcommittee.

So here's what we need to do now: the best thing would be for the Chair, Rep. James Mills, to create a special investigatory committee to assign this to. The committee could then take testimony from lots of OUR experts on what exactly it would mean to carry out this bill.

Here's how:
Email: james.mills@house.ga.gov
Office: 404-656-5099
Fax: 404-656-6897
Home Office: 770-967-6801
Home Fax: 770-967-6801
  • Ask Rep. Mills to please bring up HB 430, the Constitutional Tender Act, before the Banks and Banking Committee;
  • Ask Rep. Mills to please create a special investigatory committee to assign HB 430 to, in order to take testimony from experts on what exactly it would mean to carry out this bill;
  • Remind Rep. Mills about why this bill is so important: because Georgia, like every other state, is in violation of the U.S. Constitution without such a bill (because the State is making some other "Thing" a Tender in Payment of Debts, both to and by the State). Remind him that State legislators are all required to swear an oath to uphold that Constitution, so ethically and morally they need to do whatever the Constitution requires.
  • You can also respectfully remind Rep. Mills that this type of bill is also needed because, due to the ever-widening circle of economic disaster that is affecting the citizens of every State, we MUST do something to at least begin the process of restoring sound money and a sound economy, even if (and especially if) the current federal administration refuses to do so. This would immediately begin the flow of real wealth toward the state's treasury. This would stabilize the state's economy, protect the pensions of state employees, etc. -- and offer many other immediately recognizable benefits.
To recap what we DESPERATELY NEED people to do:
  • Contact. Rep. Mills, ask him to bring up HB 430 and assign it to a special subcommittee, and tell him why it's important.
THANK YOU SO MUCH -- it's because of people like YOU, who are willing to take a couple of minutes of your valuable time to do something like this, that we have a GOOD SHOT at getting this bill moved through the General Assembly this year -- and even introduced in other states!

Report on "Constitutional Tender Day"

Wednesday -- "Constitutional Tender Day" -- went great at the state Capitol. We talked to a number of "good" guys and gals whom I believe will co-sponsor HB 430. One of them is the chairman of the Banking Committee, where the bill has been assigned. If we can get him to at least allow the bill to be debated & voted on, we've actually got a shot, believe it or not!

Also, Rep. Bobby Franklin said that he had a GOOD number of legislators coming up to him and asking what this bill was about, so apparently, they ARE getting calls, letters, faxes, and emails!

So YES, it's still a great idea to call your state Representative if you live in Georgia. The next step will be to get it brought up in committee, so we'll keep everyone informed of the action that needs to be taken on that.

Thanks!

Gold & Silver Bill Introduced in Georgia!

Today - Friday, February 13 - the fight for a return to Constitutional money begins.

HB 430, the "Constitutional Tender Act," has been introduced in the Georgia House of Representatives.

As noted, the bill number is HB 430. Since the House isn't back in session until Tuesday 2/17, it won't be "official" until 9:00 a.m. that morning, and then the link to it will be live. But the bill is THERE!

HB 430 was introduced by Rep. Bobby Franklin (R-43), who is a member of the Banks & Banking Committee. Bobby is a good friend of ours, and a good friend of the U.S. Constitution.

NOW THE FIGHT BEGINS. The first step needed is for every citizen of Georgia to contact their State Representative TODAY and ask him or her to co-sponsor this bill. Here's an example of what you can say when you call or write:
As your constituent, I'm contacting you to ask you to please co-sponsor HB 430, the Constitutional Tender Act.

This bill is needed because Georgia, like every other state, is in violation of the U.S. Constitution without such a bill (because the State is making some other "Thing" a Tender in Payment of Debts, both to and by the State). As a state legislator, you swear an oath to uphold that Constitution, so ethically and morally you need to do whatever the Constitution requires.

This type of bill is also needed because, due to the ever-widening circle of economic disaster that is affecting the citizens of every State, we MUST do something to at least begin the process of restoring sound money and a sound economy, even if (and especially if) the current federal administration refuses to do so.

Please, put the people of Georgia and their well-being above any partisanship or politics, and especially above any fears about your "reputation" with others. What is important is the welfare of the citizens of this state, and the need to abide by the U.S. Constitution.

PLEASE, co-sponsor HB 430, the "Constitutional Tender Act," TODAY. Contact Rep. Bobby Franklin's office at
404-656-0152 to become a co-sponsor. I will be watching your actions on this bill very closely, and will remember them on election day. Thank you.

If you don't know how to contact your state Representative, you can go to the GA Secretary of State's "Poll Locator" website, enter your information there, click the Submit button, then scroll down to see what Georgia House District you live in. Then go to the GA House website, find your House District number, and click on your Representative's "Fact Sheet" to get his or her contact information.

Or, if you don't want to go through all that, you can just call the Secretary of State's office at 404-656-2881 and ask them to help you contact your state legislator.

PLEASE, contact your State Representative TODAY and ask him or her to co-sponsor HB 430. It's time to return to Constitutional money -- and this is a great start. Thanks!
